Why We Use Logic to Justify, Not Challenge, Our Beliefs

Imagine you’ve been driving for years and think you’re a parking pro. But when your friend records you parking, you somehow end up a foot away from the curb, taking three tries. You feel like you’re great at it, but the reality is a little different.

This is a perfect example of how we often confuse the feeling of knowing something with actual knowledge. We think we’re right, but logic can reveal a different story.

This gap is what fuels biases like motivated reasoning and confirmation bias.
